Materialisimo is a creative audiovisual project created in 2012 by me (Juan Carlos). The project was originally created with the purpose of exploring my creative video skills, back then I was learning to edit and realized that creating content was fun, gratifying and something I wanted to explore more. After uploading a few videos that barely anyone watched, in 2014, I chimed into the "MLG" meme craze and after 2-3 years I became the most subscribed and most watched creator in the world for that niche. All of this happened while I was 16 year old high school student in Mexico.

This YouTube channel changed my life forever, it taught many things about dedication, discipline, money and the Internet. It is to this day, around 10 years later, my greatest achievement in my life and something I value a lot.

Materialisimo was an active channel for around 4 years (2014-2018) and has been inactive ever since. I stepped away from the project as my life got busier, more complex and also because of other factors like low monetization rate, copyright issues, lack of clear direction. So I decided it was better to step away instead of ruining an awesome catalog of videos just because of money and FOMO. My channel now remains as a museum of my favorite era on the Internet.

This project was faceless and practically anonymous, my philosophy was to create the best content that I possibly could, while omitting things like my age and nationality because they are not relevant to the content I was making. Given that direction I took, my personal life was something that almost had no impact on my channel and my followers. I compensated this by including my personality as much as I could into the videos.

For a good part of the journey, the only tools I had at my disposal were a $300 laptop, a 1mbps Internet connection, a copy of Sony Vegas Pro 12, a relatively old DSLR camera and of course my imagination. This experience has taught me that no matter your mediums, you must squeeze every last drop of potential with the tools you have at your disposal.

Content quality is louder than anything else. I believe in quantity for quality. "Materialisimo" is an invented word by me in that roughly translates to "Super material".
